FOR - Unique design, price & airy cabin.
AGAINST - Engine (0.8) & some obvious              cost cutting.

                                                                                     hatchback but has its flaws.

Maruti Suzuki ALTO

Maruti's updated gets mild design tweaks & more safety kit that helps it meet new norms. The biggest change is its BS6 engine. While efficiency has reduced slightly it is still zippy & feels nimble. The cabin though, is still cramped & it still it doesn't get goodies like a touchscreen like the Renault KWID does.

FOR - Fair performance, low-speed ride & affordability.
AGAINST - Cramped cabin, a few essential
                                                                                features still missing.
                                                                                VERDICT - The long-standing budget 
                                                                                champion but there are better options now.

Due to its gawky, high-riding proportions. Maruti's 'mini-SUV' won't help it win any beauty contests. Still the shape liberates plenty of cabin room & the top-spec versions are quite well-kitted. A highlight of the S-Presso is the BS6-spec 1.0 Ltr engine that's peppy, refined & frugal.

FOR - Airy Cabin & peppy engine.
AGAINST - Looks not to all tastes & light build.
VERDICT - An excellent budget hatchback                                                                                       but definitely not an SUV.

Now even better to look at & with more equipment, the refreshed KWID is expected to be an even bigger success than the outgoing model. It's got the essentilals - space,comfort & practicality & it's a desirable budget hatch. The 1.0 litre motor is the right pick, AMT gearbox adds convenience.

FOR - Price, Practicality & equipment levels.
AGAINST - Dull engine (0.8) & average quality.
                                                                               VERDICT - Unique budget car that breaks the 
                                                                                mould but not your pocket.
