Ford Figo Aspire

The Apire recieved a major update in late 2018, which brought a few design tweaks, a heavily updated interior and new petrol engines. The 1.2-litre petrol isn't quick, but is pleasant enough, especially with crisp manual. The new 1.5-litre petrol gets a new auto box, while the frugal and likeable 1.5-litre diesel continues.

Honda Amaze
The new car improves on the first-gen. It's smarter, plusher, with more space and kit too. There are four engine-gearbox options including a new Diesel-CVT. Autos are the pick and are now even available in
top-spec trim. Noisy Diesel still a downer.

Hyundai Aura

The Aura takes over from where the Xcent left off, and improves on it on nearly every aspect. The standard petrol and diesel engines are refined and frugal, while the turbo-petrol makes it fun-to-drive. It's also got a feature-rich and comfortable, if not very spacious, cabin.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

The Dzire has got a nip and tuck but the talking point of 2020's update is the switch to a more powerful and frugal petrol engine. The
standard-fit 5-speed manual gearbox is nice to use while the AMT adds convenience. A roomy cabin, sizeable boot and lengthy features list (albeit on the pricey top versions) are other highlights.

Tata Tigor

The compact sedan derivative of the Tiago balances style and practicallity, the sleek tall is home to a class-leading 420-litres boot. The recent facelift adds a close of freshness. It's got a nice cabin with ample space and is well-equipped. Ride and handling are also impressive but the engine doesn't excite. As an overall package, the Tigor is great value.
