5 things Honda Need to do now

Honda is going through a lull phase in the Indian market. It is surviving on the sales of City and Amaze. It is famous for its sedans, but the rise in the SUV market has caught Honda by surprise. They are now looking for ways to improve it. There are good global products and concepts that Honda can bring to the Indian market. In today’s article, we will see five things Honda needs to do now in India.

Honda City Diesel Automatic

The Honda City has been an iconic car in the Indian market. It continues to sell even when people are moving more to the SUV segment. It comes in both petrol and diesel engine options. But it gets an automatic gearbox only in its petrol variant. Considering the demand for diesel automatic cars, Honda should bring in a diesel automatic in the City.

Expected Prices - ₹ 12-18 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom)
Rivals - Hyundai Verna DCT.

Honda New-Gen Jazz

The Jazz started as a popular car in the Indian Market, but rising competition from the likes of Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz have dented its sales. It has become a bit outdated compared to the competition. Globally, Honda unveiled the fourth generation of Jazz in 2020. It should bring this new generation to the Indian market.

Expected Prices - ₹ 8-12 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom)
Rivals - Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Nexa Baleno/Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz & Volkswagen Polo.

7-Seater MPV or SUV

Honda recently unveiled its production version of the N7X concept in Indonesia. It has named it the new-generation BR-V. Considering how popular the 7-seater market is in India, it can be a good product in the market. The BR-V comes with some great features like ADAS and a sunroof.

Expected Prices - ₹ 12-20 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom)
Rivals - Hyundai Alcazar & CRETA, Kia Seltos, Mahindra Marazzo, Scorpio & XUV700, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Nexa S-Cross & Nexa XL6, MG Hector, Upcoming MG Astor, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Harrier & Safari, Toyota Innova Crysta, Volkswagen Taigun & T-ROC & Jeep Compass.

Mid-Size SUV

Honda is rumoured to be working on a mid-size SUV based on the City platform. It is developing this car specifically for the Indian market. It will have 90% localisation to keep costs down. It will come with the same engines as the City.

Expected Prices - ₹ 11-18 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom)
Rivals - Hyundai CRETA, Jeep Compass, Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV700 5str, Maruti Suzuki Nexa
S-Cross, MG Astor & Hector, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Harrier, Volkswagen Taigun & T-ROC.

C-Segment

It was rumoured that Honda had dropped its plan for making a C-segment car. But Honda should make a C-segment car to compete with Creta. Currently, almost all manufacturers barring Honda, have a product in this segment showings it’s significance. Honda can use the city platform and make a capable C-segment SUV.
