Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross leaked ahead of November 25 global debut

New S-Cross gets fresh design inside out; expected to be powered by 1.4-litre BoosterJet petrol engine.

Suzuki has been working on a new-generation S-Cross for global markets for some time now. A couple of days ago, the company even dropped a teaser previewing the headlamp of the new-gen S-Cross. The model is slated for a world premiere on November 25, but a new spy photo that has surfaced online has completely revealed the design of the new-gen SUV.

. New-gen Suzuki S-Cross looks more SUV-ish than its predecessor

. Expected to be powered by 1.4-litre Boosterjet petrol with mild-hybrid tech

. No news yet on whether it's coming to India

Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross: what does the spy shot reveal?

Even at first glance, it is easy tell that the design of the new-gen S-Cross is a complete departure from that of the current model. Not only does it look slightly larger, but it also looks more upright, taller and more SUV-ish as compared to the current S-Cross. In fact, the rounded design of the current model has given way for a more squarish and boxier silhouette, although the styling is still typically Suzuki.

Up front, the face of the new S-Cross is characterised by a much larger grille with a honeycomb-like pattern. The grille is flanked by sleek and stylish headlamps on both sides with tri-beam LED elements, joined by a thick chrome strip running through the grille with the Suzuki logo in the centre. The front bumper has been redesigned with new fog lamp housings and lighting elements and features a central air dam and silver skid plate. One could even say the new S-Cross has a passing resemblance to the Maruti XL6 sold in India.

Some of the other highlights include a new and more muscular bonnet, a gently upward sloping window line and thick, black cladding on all sides. This, however, does not seem to be a top-spec model, as it can be seen wearing wheel covers on its rims. And while we haven’t seen any images of the interior of the new S-Cross yet, expect the cabin to be thoroughly updated too, with a fresh new design, new materials, and more features.

Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross: will it come to India?

Following its debut on November 25, the new Suzuki S-Cross will first go on sale in European markets, but there’s no news if this updated model will eventually be brought to India as well.

That said, Maruti Suzuki is working on a slew of new SUVs for the Indian market. The first of these will likely be the heavily updated Vitara Brezza that’s expected to debut sometime next year. Maruti Suzuki has also been working on the much-awaited five-door Jimny for India. The carmaker, in partnership with Toyota, is also developing a Creta-rivalling midsize SUV that’s expected to debut sometime in 2023.
