Skoda Kodiaq facelift launched at Rs 34.99 lakh

The new Kodiaq makes the switch to petrol power and comes in three trims.

The Skoda Kodiaq facelift has been launched in our market, with prices starting at Rs 34.99 lakh for the base Style trim and going up to Rs 37.49 lakh for the top-spec L&K trim (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for this premium SUV have also begun, with deliveries set to start in the coming days.

The Kodiaq returns to Skoda’s line-up nearly two years after it was discontinued in April 2020, following Skoda's decision to pull the plug on its diesel range during the transition to the BS6 era.

The new Kodiaq gets subtle styling updates

Available in three trims – Style, Sportline and L&K

 Uses a 190hp, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine

2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift : Exterior Design

Skoda gave the Kodiaq a mid-life facelift in international markets last year, and many of those changes have made it to the India-spec model. Among the changes is the new and more upright grille, an elevated bonnet, revised headlights with new LED Daytime Running Lamp signatures and a tweaked front bumper. In profile, no changes have been made to the Kodiaq, barring the new alloy wheel design. Around back, the taillights and bumper have been updated slightly, though the rest remains largely unchanged as well.

2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift : interior and features

In terms of the basic layout and design, the new Kodiaq’s dashboard is similar to the pre-facelift model. The most notable update to the interior design is the inclusion of Skoda’s new two-spoke steering wheel as seen on all Skoda models, including the Superb, Octavia and Kushaq. As before, the Kodiaq continues to be offered with three-rows of seating.

On the equipment front, the Kodiaq facelift packs in some new features over the outgoing model. The most notable of these new features is dynamic chassis control which adjusts the firmness of the dampers based on the drive mode. Other new additions include heated and cooled front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay conncetivity, a wireless charging pad and a 12-speaker Canton sound system (as against 10-speaker on the pre-facelift SUV).

Other features on offer in the fully loaded spec include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, hands-free parking, front and rear parking sensors and nine airbags.

2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift : engine and gearbox

Powering the Kodiaq facelift is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine (same as the unit seen in other models like the Octavia and Superb) that is tuned to develop 190hp and 320Nm. This engine is paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox and all variants get all-wheel drive as standard. Skoda has dropped the pre-facelift model’s 150hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine from the line-up altogether.

2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift : competition check

Currently, Skoda’s three-row monocoque SUV doesn’t have any direct rival in the market, that is until the Jeep Meridian is launched later this year. However, given its price, the Kodiaq is up against other premium SUVs, like the recently facelifted Volkswagen Tiguan and the diesel-powered Citroen C5 Aircross.

Prices - ₹ 34.99 - 37.49 Lakh (Ex-Showroom)
Rivals - Citroen C5 Aircross, Isuzu MU-X, Hyundai Tucson, Mahindra Alturas G4, MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner & Volkswagen Tiguan
